RANCHO HIGH SCHOOL Performing Arts Academy and Concert Hall (through
Design Development)

Design
of Performing Arts Academy, one of six smaller "schools within
schools" for the V. Sue Cleveland High School for Rio Rancho Public
Schools. Each academy
is a self-contained wing or separate building which houses an academic dis-
cipline with administrative offices, guidance areas, restrooms, teacher
planning centers, group areas with science and computer labs, practice
rooms, and support spaces applicable to discipline. Currently under
construction, the new high school is 356,000 total sq. ft. for 2,350
students, and is budgeted at $58.7 million.
The school has been
designed to meet LEED Silver, and takes advantage of geothermal ground
source heating, sustainable materials, passive solar, opti- mized orientation, and
high performance envelope. Drawings
are fully developed Building Information Modeling (BIM).
