DISTANT DRUMS and THUNDERBIRD CURIO, Abuquerque Sunport                                                                Albuquerque, NM
The Distant Drums, Thunderbird Curio, and Zia Gifts retail spaces in the Albuquerque International Sunport were designed and constructed for El Mercado del Sol, and feature custom case goods with natural cleft sandstone and v-butt maple hard- wood veneer, sandstone-clad display walls, limestone and slate waterjet-cut floor medallions, and corbel drywall reveals to showcase the southwest-oriented merchandise.  Ceiling features include hand-hewn latias and open wood grilles on hand- carved wood brackets, and are designed to attenuate sound.  Custom aluminum signage reflects the design of each store.
